We finished off our New Zealand adventure with a little day trip to Kaikoura, the crayfish town. Literally, the name Kaikoura means “to eat crayfish”.
Kaikoura is around 2 hours and 40 minutes drive from Christchurch, but we were stuck in a lot of construction traffic so it took a lot longer than expected. Unfortunately, the beautiful Ohau Falls where the seals pups used to play are no longer there due to the November 2016 earthquake.
We did however go to Point Kean Viewpoint where you can still see some of the seals lounging around on the rock pools and on the grass.
